She didn’t say a word. Finally, after a long moment’s pause she opened her mouth to speak.

“What did they do?” she asked curiously.

“They put a chip in me...if I step within 100 feet of a police station it’ll beep and they’ll press a button that’ll make the chip explode.”

“I’m so sorry….but on the bright side your 17th birthday is tomorrow! I have a surprise for you.”

“Surprise? What is it?”

“Follow me.” she said and began walking off.

I followed Vivian to a boat. I looked at her confused. Boats weren’t rare or anything it’s just a boat...on my birthday? Obviously, she didn’t know anything about me. I was terrified of water. I stepped back. She grabbed my hand and looked at me.

“Trust me! It’ll be fun.” she said and dragged me on the boat.

I gripped the railing tightly watching as my knuckles turned white. I looked at the morning sun and noticed that half the sky was dark as night...with the moon up. I looked at her frightened.

“Do you see that?” I asked pointing at the sky.

“See what?” she asked looking up, “Oh...I see. What do you think of it?”

“It’s odd…”

“It’s not that odd that have a sunny day in August, Ace…”

I sighed. It was an odd sight. The moon was right by the sun glowing with a brilliant radiance. The sky was half midnight blue and half baby blue. The stars were up only half way while the clouds were still in broad daylight. The birds were the oddest. On the light side it looked happy while the birds did a chirping but on the other side it was gloomy. Once the birds from the otherside passed over to the dark side they would slowly fall. A sudden burst of cold air rushed down my spine as I shivered. Vivian started the boat and took off in a burst of speed. I gripped the railing silently crying on the inside.

“Isn’t this fun?” she asked.

“Yeah…” I murmured to myself quietly looking out over the lake.

The lake had a dark mist of fog swirling around part of it. I watched as the fog swirled faster and faster picking up anything it found. I sighed. ‘This is a very weird day.’ I thought. A hand touched my shoulder. I looked up to see Vivian smiling.

“What’s wrong?” she asked with a worried look in her eyes.

“Nothing...just thinking.” I said.

She smiled even bigger. Her eyes looked happy but instead of them being green they turned to a deep red.

“Uh...Vivian….what color are your eyes?” I asked.

“Green...why?” she asked.

“Look in the mirror…” I said and handed her a hand mirror.

She looked in and frowned. She put the mirror down and laughed a bit.

“I didn’t see anything.” she said and smiled once more.

“Your eyes….are red….” I said.

“Oh Ace. You were always such a jokester!” she said and laughed.

“Yeah….”

I watched as her left eye turned yellow while her right one stayed that deep red. I shuddered. Then, her hair turned white. I squinted as I looked at it. Some of it turned black. Most of it stayed white. Except, if you looked hard enough you could make out a faint piece of gold in her hair and a small piece of green in her eyes. I shook my head. Then, I realized something.

“Vivian...if your by me then who’s driving the boat?” I asked.

“You don’t need to worry about that where you’re going.” she said her voice suddenly low and dark.

“Hey Viv...what’s up with your voice?”

“Vivian is long gone! In her place stands the Queen of Desire!” she yelled.

“What’d you do?” I asked faintly remembering the name.

“Did you really think I didn’t see everything that’s happening in this dreadful place? I created it! The fog, the mixture of night and day, and I even changed her hair and eye color!”

“What have you done to Vivian?”

“That little waste had no life! She is long gone. Never to be seen again.”

“Where is she?!” I yelled lunging at her and hitting nothing but hard floor.

“She is at my home planet.” she simply said a few feet away from where she was originally standing.

“What’s your home planet?”

“It’s far away in a different galaxy. Mayall’s Object to be exact.”

“What’s the planet?”

“If you must know the name of my planet is Corzza.”

“Bring her back!!!” I yelled and lunged again hitting nothing once more.

“Do you not know nothing of your past?” she asked.

“I know everything about my past. My past was surrounded by Vivian!”

“Dear boy. You must remember who you truly are. Show me your powers dear boy.”

“What powers?”

“The powers that helped you escape here! Show them to me!”

“I-I don’t know what your talking about.” I said scared.

“You mean you know not of the powers you had once before?” she asked.

“I’m telling you I’ve never had powers.”

“Once you did. Before all went away in a flash of light.”

“I don’t understand.”

“A boy will stand on the edge of life

Never to behold a false wife

Bringing home those objects of gold

Living life and growing old

He shall walk both galaxies

In a flash of light

Coming with him

Is the one that’s right.” she said.

“What is that?” I asked.

“It is the poem you grew up with. We all thought your brothers were the ones but then on your 17th birthday you disappeared. Your father and I both knew then that you were the one. We should’ve known anyway. You were always so curious about the other worlds. Your brothers showed interest in animals and such other nonsense things.”

“I don’t have any brothers….or parents. What kind of sick joke is this?” I asked standing up and walking to the edge of the boat.

“Yes my boy. Jump into the water. Regain your power!”

“I’m terrified of water. I won’t jump in it.”

“But my boy! You are the one with the power of water. The power to travel between both galaxies.” she said.

“I...don’t understand!” I yelled.

“Take my hand and all will be revealed.” she said and extended her hand toward me.

Reluctantly, I moved forward and gripped her hand. A blaze of lights appeared before me and I saw someone else’s past life. I watched as a little boy about the age of 4 appeared before me. He ran to a woman and hugged her.

“My little prince. My little Archer. Never leave me.” the woman said to the little boy.

“I won’t.” he said and smiled up at her.

“Who is that?” I asked the queen.

“That’s you, my dear boy. The woman holding you is me.”

I watched as the boy grew older and more mature. At one point the boy had run away from home. He grew up in a castle with 7 other brothers. They picked on him and teased him until one day he ran. When he came back he was chastised by the king and queen. That was when he was 16. On the night before his 17th birthday he had enough and just vanished into thin air.

“You never came home.” the queen said.

“That’s not me.” I said even though I felt compelled to her.

“That is. I have finally found you.”

“That can’t be me. I haven’t had family members for so long.”

“Believe me child. This is you. Come home with me.” she said.

“I’ll check it out.” I said.
